NBSSI/BAC ORGANISES TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR CAPBUSS BENEFICIARIES

The Wenchi Municipal Office of the National Board for Small Scale Industries/Business Advisory Centre (NBSSI/BAC) has organized a training workshop for entrepreneurs, particularly beneficiaries of the government’s COVID-19 Alleviation Programme Business Support Scheme (CAPBUSS).

Opening the workshop, the Municipal Head of NBSSI/BAC Evelyn Yangnuu noted that government has not only provided the financial support to entrepreneurs but also the technical know-how in the management of the fund with the main aim of ensuring economic empowerment and well-being of the citizenry in order to be self reliant. She hinted that government has introduced another support programme called NBSSI/Mastercard Foundation Recovery & Resilience Programme for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that were highly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to put them back on track. She further hinted that the Young Africa Works, targeted at the youth would also be rolled out soon. The BAC Wenchi Head used the opportunity to educate the audience on the operationalization of the CAPBUSS and its processes and addressed other peculiar concerns of the clients.

The two days training programme was meant to build the capacity of the beneficiaries for judicious utilization of the financial package given them to ensure successful investments and flexible payment plan. This was aimed at making entrepreneurs resilient and successful in their enterprise of choice to avoid loses and difficulties in the CAPBUSS loan repayment.

It was also to help them design profit oriented initiatives to develop and explore new ways to improve their businesses in order to maximize profit and expand their businesses.

The Resource Person/Facilitator Ibrahim Yussif of ASSK Business Associates-Sunyani, took participants through Business Managerial Skills such as Target Setting, Employee Management, Financial Literacy, Book Keeping, Tax Compliance, Budgeting, Good Citizen Expectations from key stakeholders, Financial Planning, Revenue & Expenditure Management, Working Capital Management.

Other areas include Concept of Entrepreneurship, Business idea generation, Starting a Business & business plan, forms of Business and Business Management.

At the end of the workshop, the participants were put in groups and given assignment on Logical Reasoning based on the training acquired and did individual group presentations on their results.

The participants expressed their excitement and commended the government for the training, noting that it worth it and has really met their expectations and targets and further enriched their knowledge base in business management.

They, however, expressed delay in the disbursement of the Fund and appealed to government to fast track the process to avert further hardship.
