The Wenchi Municipal Assembly has begun verification of details on operations of private water operators who were enrolled onto the government’s Three months Free Water For All Policy from April to June, 2020, as a relief package for the citizens due to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n

The policy, which was declared by the President of the Republic His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in March this year, was successfully implemented by the Municipal Assembly with earlier submission of documents by operators.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The verification exercise would enable assessment of credible and reliable records, so to effect payment to the commercial operators who provided water free of charge to all consumers in the Municipality in compliance with the government’s directive.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is also to compile true records on consumption data and their technical operational cost with the aim of paying the right bills on behalf of consumers to the right Service Providers in order to ensure value for money in protecting the government purse.<\/span><\/p>\n

The verification exercise being spearheaded by Works (Engineering) Department of the Municipal Assembly and Community Water & Sanitation Agency (CWSA), has so far made tremendous progress and provided well-informed data on commercial water service delivery in the Municipality.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Quantity Surveyor for the Municipal Assembly Madam Helina Agyeiwah leading the Verification Team, commended the private operators for their cooperation and commitment in practicalising the policy on the ground for the benefit of the citizenry. She noted the verification exercise was to ensure that both government and the Water Service Providers as development partners are not short-changed. Madam Agyeiwah urged all private operators to continually cooperate with the government to enhance socio-economic of the citizenry and assured them of payments for their service.<\/span><\/p>\n
