The Wenchi Traditional Council has called for speedy development of the area to befit its Municipal status.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The Council contended that Wenchi did not deserve development deficit and the seeming backwardness and slow pace of development it currently faces.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
In a petition presented to the Regional Minister Justina Owusu Banahene and the Municipal Chief Executive Alexander Obour Damoah, the Council called for revival of the Wenchi Tomatoes Processing Factory popularly referred to as Tomacan under government’s 1D1F policy.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The Council urged the Minister to help resource the Police to fight crime and maintain peace and security.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It requested for construction of district hospital under the government’s Agenda 111 Projects. The Chiefs complained about the lack of government hospital in the area.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The Council also asked for early completion of Wenchi inner city roads and fix other road networks to enhance accessibility in the Municipality.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It bemoaned the haphazard nature of structures, no proper lay out, hence called on the Assembly particularly Physical & Spacial (Town & Country) Planning Department to ensure proper planning of the town to enable further future development.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The Traditional Council made a passionate appeal to the Minister to construct a Statue in Wenchi in honour of a former President of the Republic, astute politician, native of Wenchi, national figure Professor K. Abrefa Busia.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The Council also appealed for vehicle as means of transport to attend official functions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Addressing the Council of our revered Chiefs, the Minister pledged to put out her best to help develop the area. She, however, urged the Chiefs, to pay frequent visits and follow-ups to her office and support the MCE.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The petition was presented on behalf of the Council by the Chief of Koase Koasehene Nana Owusu Ansah Sasraku Besea II, when the Minister paid a courtesy call on the Traditional Council as part of her official working visit to the Municipality.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
