The Association of Small Scale Industries (ASSI) in the Wenchi Municipality has advocated for consideration and involvement in government contracts of projects and programmes being executed in the area.<\/div>\n

The Executives of the Association led by the Chairman Robert Nsiah explained that the local artisans in Wenchi had the professional capacity and the needed competences to carry out government projects. He appealed to the Assembly to engage and involve the local artisans in government projects to give them exposure and practical capacity enhancement so as to make them beneficial and impactful to the Municipality. The Association assured the Assembly of its readiness to collaborate and work to deliver quality service for development.<\/div>\n
The Association argued that engagement of the local artisans in government projects would help create jobs in actualizing the local content drive, save cost, boost the local economy, motivate upcoming artisans and achieve the government’s industrilization agenda.<\/div>\n
Head of the Business Advisory Centre (BAC Wenchi) of the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) Miss Evelyn Yangnuu added that the benefits and impacts in the involvement of local artisans in projects would enhance development, hence the need to engage them. She was however, quick to advise the local artisans to formalize their operations by registering their businesses and acquiring documentations necessary for contract engagements. engage underscored the positive impact of government’s intervention programmes on businesses. The BAC Head assured that her outfit would continue to hold regular meetings with trade associations and sensitize artisans, business owners and operators to help create and open the enabling business environment, so as to enhance the local economy of the Municipality.<\/div>\n
The Association made the appeal during a courtesy call to familiarize, interact and discuss some pertinent concerns with the Municipal Chief Executive on their business operations and the operationalization of local content drive aimed at creating jobs.<\/div>\n

In his remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive Alexander Obour Damoah pledged his commitment to collaborate with the local artisans to develop the area. He underscored the need to come together as a people to contribute our quota for the development of the Municipality, urging all business owners and operators to pay their  Business Operation Permits (BOPs), rates and other levies payable to the Assembly to embark on development projects.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
