\"\"The Wenchi Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government Decentralization & Rural Development and the Zoom Lion Ghana Limited has evacuated huge refuse heaps that had lived many years in some communities in the Municipality.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The evacuation exercise, carried out at Buoku and Beposo communities was part of the Assembly’s comprehensive Water and Sanitation Policy Master Plan in tackling sanitation and related problems in the Municipality. The Ministry of Local Government Decentralisation and Rural Development approved the execution of the evacuation exercise to enable clearance of the refuse dumps by the Zoom Lion Ghana Limited.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

During an inspection tour to the sites, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon Alexander Obour Damoah reiterated the Assembly’s resolve to addressing sanitation challenges and promote good health and wellbeing in the Municipality. He observed that the over 3 decade old refuse heaps had hindered the development extension and expansion of the communities due to the strategic locations of the refuse and the stench churned out, posing high health risks to the people. While appreciating the Local Government Minister Dan Kwaku Botwe and the collaborative effort of Zoom Lion for the initiative, the MCE emphasized the Assembly’s continuous pursuant of programmes geared towards improving the living standards of the people.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Bono Regional Coordinator for Zoom Lion Mr Emmanuel Abesiga hinted of the Company’s plans to provide refuse containers at designated places with personnel to supervise dumping of refuse into the containers in the communities at a fee.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Assembly Members for the beneficiary communities Mr Lawrence Abrefa of Beposo Electoral Area and Mr Mustapha Mohammed of Buoku Electoral Area observed that the stench produced by the refuse was unbearable which had the tendency to cause disease outbreaks and other health hazards.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Residents and Opinion Leaders of the beneficiary communities expressed delight and commended the MCE for the initiative.<\/div>\n
