\"\"The German Cooperation GIZ has held a Stakeholders Training Workshop for technical staff of concerned Departments\/Units and Organisations as well as major development players in the Municipality on the District Kick-off and operational planning of a GIZ newly introduced programme dubbed Participation, Accountability and Integrity for Resilient Democracy (PAIRed) with the motto “Positioning Citizens at the Centre for Accountable Governance”. The PAIReD programme, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has implementation duration of 5years from October 2023 to September 2027 of which Wenchi Municipal Assembly is one of the fortunate 3 selected qualified Assemblies.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Municipal Coordinating Director Mr Ayambire Akaditi who opened the Workshop on behalf of the the Municipal Chief Executive Hon Alexander Obour Damoah was glad about the selection of Wenchi Municipal Assembly for the PAIReD programme. He charged the Stakeholders to play active role and bring their expertise to the fore as expected to achieve the needed results.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The PAIReD programme is focused on the following objectives; to increase transparency, effectiveness, sustainability and social equitability of domestic revenue system, to make the expenditure management more citizen-oriented data-based, gender-responsive, and climate oriented, to strengthen participatory data-based land use planning by Assemblies, curb corruption through joint efforts by state institutions and civil society, to strengthen internal control at MMDA level, to strengthen effective whistleblowing mechanism at the local level and provide support to increase the use of digital systems to enable citizens report corruption.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As part of efforts under the PAIReD programme to ensure effective and successful implementation to achieve the intended objectives, the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) will ensure sustained commitment of the partner Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly (MMDA), provide technical back-stopping through the Regional Mobile Teams.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Lead Facilitators from GIZ, Mr. Aliu Aminu and Mr. Jacob Bakari who took participants through the Training underscored the need for all Departments and Units to work together.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Participants were put into 3 groups during the training to discuss and make presentations on (i) Accountability, Corruption & Governance, (ii) Planning & Budgeting and (iii) Land Use and Spatial Planning.<\/div>\n
