\"\"The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in collaboration with its Development Partner the World Health Organisation (WHO) has held a Capacity Building Training Workshop for Stakeholders on Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The objectives of the Training Workshop was to amongst others equip Stakeholders with the requisite knowledge, skills and expertise so as to strengthen their capacity and ability to carry out effective and efficient Communication and Community Engagement on Health issues with the overall aim to build heightened public trust and achieve better public health outcomes.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Addressing Stakeholders at the Workshop, the Country Preparedness & IHR Officer Dr Sally Ann Ohene of the World Health Organisation (WHO) indicated their resolve to continuously collaborate with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) as Development Partners, emphasising the priorities of the World Health Organisation (WHO) such as; working towards universal health coverage, protecting against health emergencies and ensuring healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages. Thereby, committing resources and providing technical back-stopping in complementing collaborative efforts to improve the health of the people. The World Health Organisation Team included the Programme Management Officer of Dr Uzoma Ajegbo.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) Resource Team consisted of Mr Augustine Fobi and Madam Esther from the Health Promotion Division Head Office Accra, Bono Regional Health Promotion Officer Nana Amma Asirifi-Gyankomaa, Municipal Health Promotion Officer Ms Abigail Teiko Ossom. The Municipal Health Surveillance Officer, Mr George Agyemang and Staff at the Wenchi Health Directorate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The RCCE Sub-Committee is a multi-disciplinary and inter-sectoral group mandated to provide technical support to effective planning and execution of Risk Communication and Community Engagement during Public Health Emergencies. The goal of the RCCE is to provide coordinated and harmonized strategic approach across all RCCE activities for better response to public health emergencies and improved health outcomes. The Committee is clothed with the responsibilities to develop preparedness plan for public health emergencies, coordinate the implementation of stakeholder activities, create awareness on any disease and health threats, etc. and above all respond to community level misinformation and concerns.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Participants were trained on Public Health Emergencies & Preparedness and Response, Risk Communication & Community Engagement, Execution and Deployment Strategies, Strengthening Capabilities for Misinformation Response, Misinformation Management, amongst others. Participants were put into Groups for Group Discussion and Presentation. Stakeholders included Local Council of Churches, Muslim Council, Traditional Leaders, Information Services Department (ISD) and some selected Organisations, Civil Society, Road Transport Unions, Media, amongst others.<\/div>\n
