The Chiefs and people of Wenchi have made a chain of passionate appeals to the President of the Republic H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the development of Wenchi to reflect the Municipal status and popularity of Wenchi as a town that has produced a President of Ghana Prof Kwasi Abrefa-Busia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nananom have appealed for conversion and upgrading of the Wenchi Farm Institute into a University School and named after Professor K. A. Busia, preferably in affiliation with the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani. This, according to the Chiefs, would honour the academic laureate who is still globally celebrated for his immense contribution to the development of the country.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Traditional Authority has further asked for Wenchi to be transformed into an Educational Hub\/Capital where all the levels of education and academic programmes and opportunities for pursuit are available and abound. Nananom asserted that the records of academic pedigree of indigenes\/natives and the number of high class personalities produced by Wenchi in different fields of endeavors across the world are indisputable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nananom have also asked for the construction of Wenchi – Nkonsia – Buoku Road leading to Sunyani, calling it a death trap to travellers, commuters and traders, making business and economic activities unattractive. In the same vein, Nananom have bemoaned the seeming delay of completing the Wenchi Inner-city Roads and asked for the Contractor to be resourced to fast-track the completion of the projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nananom have lamented over the discretionary pricing of cashew by produce buyers and called on government to address the seasonal menace as in the case of Cocoa Farmers in order to make cashew farming and production attractive and rewarding.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a related call, the traditional body has asked for the establishment of Cashew Development Authority to be Headquatered in Wenchi. They have assured government of already available infrastructure and land for Office and Residential accommodation to house the Authority.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Akyeamehene of Wenchi Traditional Council Nana Damoah Ko-Asane Aduse Poku Kofabae IV made the appeal on behalf of the Chiefs and the good people of the area, in a durbar to cut sod for the construction of \u20ac30 million Water Supply Improvement Project for the Municipality.<\/span><\/p>\n
