MCE MEETS WITH THE CLERGY

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon Alexander Obour Damoah has held Stakeholders meeting with the Local Council of Churches thus the Clergy in Wenchi.
The meeting formed part of the MCE’s Public Engagements in interaction with Religious Leaders as part of the major Stakeholders and constituents in the Wenchi Municipality. The engagement afforded MCE the opportunity to account on his stewardship particularly completed, ongoing and upcoming new physical infrastructural projects.
Addressing the Clergymen and Women as Reverend Ministers of the Gospel, the MCE expressed his profound gratitude to the Council of Churches for their continuous prayer support and cooperation being offered him since he assumed the highest Office from 1st October, 2024. He further thanked and charged them for their critical role in maintaining peace in the Municipality before, during and after the upcoming December 7, 2024 Parliamentary and Presidential Polls.
The MCE outlined some major newly constructed and completed physical infrastructural projects implemented by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government such as; the Business Resource Centre (BRC) Office Complex, Court Complex for Circuit and High Courts, Audit Office Complex and the ongoing Thirty-One Million Euros (€31M) Wenchi Water Supply System Project, Astroturf Sports Facilities, amongst other projects in the Municipality. The MCE also hinted on new Wenchi Township Roads Project awarded to a renowned construction giant MAPOMAH Construction Company Limited to construct Wenchi Township Roads in addition to the ongoing Township Roads Project being undertaken by PMC Africa Building and Constructions Company Limited, noting that the Contractor would soon mobilize to Wenchi to commence work.
Given the litany of Projects, the MCE argued that the achievements of NPP government were unmatched and uncontested and deserved continuation hence rallied votes for the NPP Presidential Candidate Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to win the upcoming December 7, 2024 General Elections. The MCE again contended that apart from Assembly Projects, other projects initiated and executed by the past and current NPP Government as Central Government/GoG Projects led by His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffuor and His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo respectively as Presidents proved the benefits Wenchi derived from NPP when in power. He challenged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to point at least one infrastructural Project initiated, completed and handed over for use in Wenchi. He reiterated that NPP was the only Political Party that could develop Wenchi and the panacea to the developmental needs of the people. As part of upcoming projects, the MCE hinted on the construction of new Ultra-Modern Standard Market to revamp the existing Wenchi Thursday Central Market.
The MCE emphasized that Wenchi had benefited and could bost of numerous Ministerial and Ambassadorial as well as other major appointments of high positions namely Professor Kofi Abrefa Busia, Professor George Gyan Baffour (former Deputy Finance Minister and former Minister for Planning), Ambassador Naa Amelley Ollenu, Alhaji Mogtar Musah Bamba (Office of the former President), Dr Kwasi Agyemang Busia (CEO – DVLA), the late Ama Busia, current Attorney General and Minister for Justice Godfred Yeboah Odaame, and many others in the current and past NPP Governments and further argued that the NPP was the only Political Party that appreciated and rewarded Wenchi with Appointments.
The Local Council of Churches Churches praised the MCE for his development policy initiatives executed particularly completed and ongoing Lockable Market Store Projects at the Old Station. The discussion covered wide range of development issues in all sectors. The Clergy raised concern about the seeming poor layouts in the construction of residential buildings in new areas. They called for drainage systems and deliberate policies to improve Sanitation in the area. The Clergy heightened call for intensified Security. They called for Roads improvement. The Clergy appealed to the MCE to make time out of his busy official schedules to visit their Worship Centres to interact with the congregations.
In response to the concerns of the Clergy, the MCE noted that the earth-moving machines and equipment procured by the government for the Assembly under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) had started construction works on new and dilapidated roads including the Ofuman Sports Stadium road. He pledged his commitment to development and asked for their continuous support and cooperation to develop Wenchi. On Sanitation Improvement, the MCE disclosed that the Assembly would receive additional ZoomLion Heavy Rubbish Collection Truck to augment the existing trucks. The Clergy encouraged the MCE to continue his good works and pledged their support to the development of Wenchi.
