ASSEMBLY HOLDS EXECO MEETING

The Wenchi Municipal Assembly has held its Executive Committee (ExeCo) Meeting on Tuesday 12th November 2024 at its Conference Room and transacted the following specified Businesses; Presentation and discussion of Sub-Committee Reports/Recommendations, Consideration of Draft Annual Action Plan (AAP) for 2025, Consideration of 2024 Revised Budget, Draft Composite Budget Estimates/Fee-Fixing Resolution/Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP) for 2025.
In his Opening Address to commence the meeting, the Municipal Chief Executive and Chairman of the Executive Committee (ExeCo) Hon Alexander K. Obour Damoah expressed appreciation to the Committee Members for their roles and commitment towards the effective and efficient administration of the Assembly. He rallied for continuous cooperation and support to accelerate development and progress of the Municipality.
The Sub-Committees of the Assembly presented their Recommendations for consideration and discussion. The Agric – Sub-Committee recommended reshaping of farm roads and collaboration between the Assembly’s Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) to stop the activities of nomadic herdsmen destroying farmlands and food crops at the expense of the farmers endangering food security. The Justice & Security Sub-Committee recommended measures to support Police efforts to prevent and control crime, enhance cordial relationship between the Police and Road Users including Tricycle Operators, stop activities of nomadic herdsmen, maintain and protect peace in the Municipality. The Works Sub-Committee recommended continuation of street lights provision and extension of electricity to communities. The Development Planning Sub-Committee recommended construction of 5No Boreholes at Kwanware, Tain, Johnny Akura, Mmeredane and Nkwanta. The Social Services Sub-Committee recommended the employment of people to manage refuse sites, apart from the Zoom Lion Company Ghana Limited.
The Executive Committee considered and discussed the Annual Action Plan (AAP) of the Assembly presented by the Municipal Development Planning Officer Mr Patrick Asomah. The Committee also considered and discussed the 2024 Revised Budget, Draft Composite Budget Estimates/Fee-Fixing Resolution/Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP) for 2025 presented by the Municipal Budget Analyst of the Assembly Mr Desmond Titus Bannon.
The Municipal Coordinating Director Mr Jacob Jimah Yakubu announced the preparation of the Assembly to inaugurate the 5 Area Councils of the Assembly and an upcoming General Assembly meeting to be held soon to seek approval for its programmes and policy initiatives. The MCD also advised members as Development Agents against active partisan politics at the expense of development.
