2021 POPULATION & HOUSING CENSUS LAUNCHED

The 30 Days Countdown to the Census Night of the 2021 Population and Housing Census has been launched with a call on all to get involved and be counted, regardless of cultural, religious and tribal differences.
As part of preparatory activities, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) through the District Census Implementation Committee (DCIC) of the Assembly is implementing Publicity, Education and Advocacy Campaign in the lead up to the Census to sensitize the public and elicit support for the exercise. This is to facilitate the work of Census Officials by informing the public about the impending exercise and what is expected of them so that all will endeavor to be counted.
Addressing stakeholders at the Launch, the Municipal Coordinating Director and Chair of the DCIC Edward Abazing declared that the Assembly fully supports the Census because it will address data gaps needed for effective planning of district programmes and projects.
The Municipal Census Officer Joe Befaa Hanoi explained the various activities undertaken in the lead up to the Census. He outlined the Census modalities and information required of the public stating that the Officials would be under Oath with strict adherence to confidentiality.
The Akrobihene Nana Ansiri Asakrah II who chaired the occasion underscored the critical roles Nananom have to play to achieve the expected results.
Stakeholders pledged their solidarity to ensure successful conduct of this year’s exercise.
From Friday 28th May, 2021 marks the 30 days count to the Census Night and the start of intense publicity campaign to raise awareness.
