ASSEMBLY MEMBERS RECEIVE MOTORBIKES

The Wenchi Municipal Assembly has distributed Motorbikes to Assembly Members in the municipality.
The “Supreme Star” branded 150 Horse Power Motorbikes with Crash Helmets were distributed to all the 42 Elected and Appointed Assembly Members.
This was part of government’s efforts and commitment to prioritize and facilitate the work of the people’s Representatives to deepen decentralisation, local governance and rural development.
The distribution of the motorbikes was to facilitate easy movement of the Assembly Members to and from their respective Electoral Areas and communities in order to help them carry out their official duties, roles and responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
Presenting the motorbikes to the Assembly Members, the Municipal Chief Executive Alexander Obour Damoah charged them to justify the purpose of receiving the motorbikes by making a difference in the performance of their official duties. The MCE emphasised that the initiative would enhance the ability to reach out to people in their communities to ensure timely response to the needs and calls of their constituents.
Receiving the motorbikes on behalf of the Assembly Members, the Presiding Member (PM) Samuel Mensah assured that Assembly Members would work assiduously to better the lives of their people. The PM noted that Assembly Members had no salary for their work, hence the need for incentives such as this and others to motivate them. He said the MCE had began well as the motorbikes distribution was done in his first General Assembly meeting with the House. He commended government and all concerned authorities for their roles. He pledged the support and dedication, readiness and availability of the Members to help develop the Municipality.
The Assembly Members thanked government for the initiative and asked for more incentives to appreciate their sacrifice.
The Wenchi Office of the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) took inventory to ensure registration of the motorbikes.
