
The Municipal Head of the Wenchi Business Advisory Centre Miss Evelyn Yangnuu explained the Project with a call on Traditional Authorities, Religious Bodies, Community Leaders, and the general public to mobilize and register in their numbers and sign onto the programme. The BRC/BAC Head and Team were accompanied by the Municipal Information Officer and Director for the Information Services Department of the Municipal Assembly Mr Stanick Sofel Amuzu Kpodo. The Sensitization Campaign activities also included Radio discussions, meeting with Trade Associations, visits to Churches, Mosques, Community Engagements, etc. by the BAC Head and Team.
The Biz Box Project is an initiative of the Government of Ghana in collaboration with the Master Card Foundation and spearheaded by the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA). It is 4 year (2024 to 2027) Project which seeks to create dignified and fulfilling job opportunities and income for the youth aged 15 years to 35 years with special focus of 70% for Women and 10% for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs). The Project is a full Government and Master Card Foundation Scholarship for qualified applicants where the government bears and pays the full cost of Apprenticeship for interested persons to learn any trade of their choice. Master Craftsmen shall be engaged to sign onto an Agreement/Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government to train supposed beneficiaries in many skills such as Tailoring & Dressmaking, Hairdressing, Masonry & Tiling, Kente Weaving, Agriculture & Agribusiness, Electronic & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding & Fabrication, Glass & Door Works, Carpentry & Joinery, and many more.
The Project provides resources, seeks to nurture dreams, create opportunities and build resilient economic foundation for the people particularly the youth, through skills development and local economic development of our communities, create enabling environment and sustainable future for growth and development of our local businesses. The Project is structured on 5 Pillars namely; Youth Skills Development, Access to Start-up Kits, Access to Market, Youth Social Networks and Institutional Strengthening Policy & Regulatory Support for Business and Product Certification. Components under the Pillars include Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship (A2E), Agriculture and Agribusiness to Entrepreneurship (AA2E) and MSME Business Acceleration (MBA). The Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship (A2E) Component targets persons with formal and non-formal education interested in acquiring skills and can learn over a period of 6 months and persons who have gained some skills and need assistance to start their Business, Apprentices to be trained over a period of 6 months, Apprentices will be supported to acquire NVTI Certificates and Start-up kits. The Project is meant to simplify entrepreneurial journey and propel economic success. The goal is not only to assist and create jobs but to also scale and sustain the jobs created to ensure long-term success. It is a medium to harness the potentials and talents of the youth, hence the need to embrace and take advantage of the opportunities the Project offers.
