MCE LEADS SECURITY TO MONITOR DISTRICT BOUNDARY AGAINST NOMADIC HERDSMEN

The Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive Alexander Obour Kwadwo Damoah has embarked on a monitoring and inspection tour of the northern boundaries of the Municipality.
The purpose of the boundary tour was to inspect some suspected routes being used by nomadic Herdsmen to convey their cattle into the Municipality. The inspection was part of measures and efforts to implement the “Operation Cattle-Stop” directive given by the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) to prevent Herdsmen with their cattle from entering and occupying any piece of land in the Wenchi Municipality. This formed part of efforts to stop the perennial confrontation between farmers and nomadic herdsmen.
The tour took the MCE and Security carpool to the Bamboi – New Longoro Bridge that connects the Savannah and Bono Regions through Wenchi. Some routes were identified under-bridge and along the river banks.
The Team involving the Municipal Information Officer Stanick Sofel Amuzu Kpodo, the Wenchi Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Boakye Ansah and MTTD Commander DSP Kofi Oduro Amponsah with armed Police Personnel visited the Bamboi Police Station and interacted with their counterparts Police Personnel.
The Team continued their tour through other areas of the Savannah Region to Jama, Bui Banda Ahenkro in the Banda District of the Bono Region. At Banda, the MCE and Security Carpool held District Security Council (DiSeC) meeting with his counterpart Akonneh and Team. The interaction was centered on ensuring peace between farmers and nomadic herdsmen.
