The Wenchi Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has embarked on public sensitization campaign ahead of the raining season to create awareness on floods.
The sensitization exercise hammered on proper disposal of solid waste with emphasis on attitudinal change as NADMO personnel moving from area to area within Wenchi, particularly flood prone areas. The Organization urged the public to dispose refuse at the disposal site and stop the practice of throwing refuse into gutters and drains as the practice causes chocked gutters and diversion of water flow. The public were urged to clear and keep gutters and drains clean in order to enable free flow of running water.
The public were also urged against building on water ways to prevent floods to save lives and property as the Municipality has experienced some rains with the expectation of recording more rains in the coming days.
The Programme Officer Babs Bello for Wenchi Office of NADMO advised land buyers and potential land owners to always verify records on landed property from the Spacial & Physical Planning Department of the Assembly before development.
