An Orientation Workshop has been held for selected Officers of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly as part of preparations to inaugurate the Zonal Councils and organize Public Hearing in the Municipality on the 2022-2025 Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) of the Assembly.
The Orientation Workshop was to build and enhance the knowledge and capacity of the Officers for the inauguration of the Zonal Councils. It was to build a formidable Resource Team to handle affairs of the inauguration simultaneously in all the five Zonal Councils in the Municipality.
The Team made up of Officers from the Human Resource, Internal Audit, Records & Registry, Planning, Budget, Finance, Procurement, Environmental Health, Revenue and Admin Units, were taken through the legal framework establishing the Local Government sub-structures; Formation & Composition of Urban/Zonal Councils, Unit Committee, Functions, Sources & Uses of Funds to the Assembly, etc.
A Senior Admin Officer of the Assembly Ms. Linda A.N Appiah led the orientation on the formation, composition and the legal framework of the sub-structures.
The Municipal Planning Officer Patrick Asomah took the Team through the 2022-2025 Medium Term Development Plan of the Assembly.
The Municipal Coordinating Director Douglas NK Annoful who addressed the workshop, charged them to demonstrate professionalism and capacity in the task assigned them. He took them through the guidelines for the inauguration of the Councils as they moved to the five Zonal Council centres for the inaugural ceremony. The centres were Wenchi, Asuogya, Awisa, Subinso No:2 and Nchiraa. Five Teams were trained and each deployed to all the centres for the task. Each member of the team had a role to play in order to achieve a successful inauguration exercise.
