The Wenchi Municipal Assembly would host this year 2023 39th Regional Farmers’ Day celebration jointly organised by the Bono Regional Coordinating Council (BRCC) and the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, spearheaded by the Regional and Municipal Directorates of Agriculture as well as the Fisheries Commission together with the relevant Departments and Stakeholders.The occasion which would host both the Municipal and the Regional Editions, comes off Friday 1st December, 2023 at Akrobi in the Wenchi Municipality specifically along Tain Nsawkaw Highway. The 39th National Farmers Day Celebration 2023, is under the theme “Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience”.
At a joint meeting in Wenchi between the Municipal Planning Committee of the Assembly and the Regional Planning Committee from the Regional Coordinating Council Sunyani, on Thursday 23rd November, 2023, the Municipal Coordinating Director Mr Ayambire Akaditi stated the activity preparedness of the Assembly awaiting the RCC’s collaborative and collective discussions and decisions.
The Regional Team was led by the Regional Director of Agriculture Mr Dennis Amenga Abugri and an Assistant Director Ms Theresa Adjei-Mensah at the Regional Coordinating Council. The joint meeting was part of planned activities to enable the Regional Coordinating Council and the Municipal Assembly put the necessary measures and mobilize the required resources to successfully organize the programme together.
The Regional Edition would honour at least 4 categories while the Municipal Edition would award at least 20 categories or more particularly, the Overall Regional Best Farmer and the Overall Municipal Best Farmer amongst others. The occasion seeks to recognize and reward our hardworking farmers in the Wenchi Municipality and the Bono Region at large. The day, set aside as a Public Holiday to celebrate farmers, comes as motivation for their relentless and selfless efforts in the production of food, fish and livestock for human and industrial consumptions.
