The exercise helps management of the District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies to put in much effort to enable them achieve their ultimate goals of improving the lives of the people through socio-economic developments.

It also helps other departments and units to achieve their individual targets in contributing to the general development pool of the Assembly’s agenda.

The Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development (MLGRD), through the monitoring exercise, applies rewards and sanctions.

The Team Leader, at the end of the audit exercise, was very impressed with the performance of the Assembly. Peter Essaim Asante commended the level of adherence to public administration and good governance practices, accountability and transparency.

Addressing the Monitoring Team and Departmental/Unit Heads in a joint meeting, the Municipal Coordinating Director Edward Abazing outlined a number of policies and programmes being initiated, attributing the achievement to the hard work and commitment of staff and effective administrative checks, despite the emergence of the novel Coronavirus. He said the Monitoring Team served as independent body of external invigilators and examiners” over the activities of the Assembly apart from the internal check mechanisms put in place by the Coordinating Director and the Municipal Chief Executive. He assured that Management would continuously tighten the internal check mechanisms over staff particularly Departmental Heads to continuously ensure efficiency and higher productivity.
