In the wake of the novel Corona virus, the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with all Wenchi based Radio Stations has distributed Face Masks to the general public to help fight the menace.
The move was to make Face Masks more accessible and affordable and inculcate in the public the habit of using Face Masks as part of their routine activities.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Information Officer in charge of Public & Media Relations Stanick Sofel Amuzu Kpodo noted that apart from over 8, 000 Face Masks being distributed, the Assembly had rolled out numerous policies and programmes to contain and prevent spread of the disease. Some of these measures include Public Education/Sensitization, distribution of Veronica Buckets with other PPEs, creation of multiple satellite markets, creation of Isolation Centres, mass fumigation/disinfection of public places, amongst others.
The Public Affairs Director hinted that the Municipal Directorate of the Information Services Department (ISD) has designed a new methodology and approach as part of its sensitization campaign programmes to reach out to the general public taking into consideration their attitude and busy schedules. The yet-to-be out doored programmes are in partnership with the Media and other stakeholders to intensify education.
He assured that the joint Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEC) and the Security Council (MUSEC) of Municipal Assembly would continually prioritize the health and security needs of the people.
He urged all to continuously adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.
