The Municipal Chief Executive for the Wenchi Municipality Alexander Obour Damoah has since 8th November, begun a familiarisation tour to meet with people in communities in the Wenchi Municipality.
The tour forms part of efforts and opportunity for the Chief Executive to familiarize and interact with the chiefs and other community leaders people in the area, identifiable groups and stakeholders in appreciation of their prayers and support during his nomination, confirmation and assumption of the position.
The tour was also to apprise himself with the communities in the 29 electoral areas of the municipality and assess the needs of the people and the localities in which they live.
The tour which was scheduled in phases took the Chief Executive to some electoral areas such Masalachi, Banda Line, Kejetia, Awisa, Amponsakrom, Subinso No: 1, Subinso No:2, Branam, Akete, Nwoase, Nchiraa, Koase, Beposo-Yoyoano, Tromeso, Ayigbe, Buoku and their surrounding communities. Over 30 communities were visited.
The Chiefs and people of the communities visited highlighted their community needs for intervention. These include appeal for construction and reshaping of their roads, drilling and maintenance of boreholes, mechanization of already drilled boreholes, construction of Health facilities, school blocks, extension of electricity, and many other needs. Some of the communities along the highways also requested for speed bumps. The Chiefs urged the Chief Executive to chart a path worth emulating, unite the people in the Municipality and embrace all persons irrespective of one’s political, tribal and religious affiliations. The Chiefs and elders also advised the Chief Executive to eschew chieftaincy interference in his administration.


Addressing the Chiefs and people, the MCE Alexander Obour Damoah called for support, cooperation and collaboration with his administration to solve the developmental challenges facing the Municipality. He assured to continue and complete all ongoing projects started by his predecessor. He invited all hands on deck in the spirit of unity, noting that his doors were always opened for everybody with ideas geared towards development to enhance the living conditions of the citizenry in area.
The MCE also met and interacted with Heads, Management and staff of institutions where he them to to render quality service to the people.
The Chief Executive was accompanied by Heads of Department, staff of the Municipal Assembly, constituency executives of the NPP, amongst others.
