MCE, PM MEET WITH OKADA OPERATORS

The Municipal Chief Executive with the Presiding Member have held a consultative meeting with owners and operators of passenger carrying tricycles popularly called Okada or Pragyia.

The meeting was to discuss and regularize their operations in the area to ensure best practices in the commercial transport business in the Municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive Hon Dr. Prince Kwakye asked the operators to adhere to road safety regulations in order not to incur the wrath of the law enforcement agencies. He asked them to be decent and courteous to the public to carve a good image and win the heart of the public.  He said the Assembly would continue to monitor and regulate their activities in the Municipality to ensure best practices. He urged them to join their Association as an umbrella body, so they can easily be reached and involved in all decision making process to serve the interest of the public who patronize their services.  

The Presiding Member Hon Samuel Mensah told the operators to be mindful and responsible of their operations knowing very well that they cannot operate in a vacuum because every jurisdiction they operate has an Assembly Member as the government representative in the area. He urged them to always approach the Assembly Members and Unit Committees of their respective areas of operation to address their concerns.
