The Municipal Chief Executive has toured the Registration Centres of the Electoral Commission in the ongoing new voter registration exercise in the Wenchi Municipality.
The tour enabled the MCE and team with the Municipal Coordinating Director Edward Abazing to assess the efficiency of the equipment and the laid down procedures for registration based on the length of time spent by an applicant to register. The tour also helped to assess the level of adherence to COVID-19 arrangements and protocols being set out to follow at the Centres.

There was high patronage demonstrating the preparedness, zeal and anxiety of the citizenry to get their names onto the new Electoral Roll to enable them vote in the upcoming general elections.
Security personnel were present to ensure peace. Political party reps were also present to observe the exercise.
The Registration Officers briefed the MCE and team on the situational arrangements at their respective centres. At the time of the visit on day-3 of Phase-one, almost 2, 000 people were registered as results from 8 centres visited.
The tour took the MCE and team to registration centres at Ahyeaem – New Wenchi, Ayigbe, Malamkrom, Buoku, Buoku-Junction, Tromeso, where the first phase began in the Wenchi Municipality.
In his observation, Dr. Prince Kwakye Afriyie highly commended the Electoral Commission for putting all the necessary measures in place to ensure a successful execution of the exercise. He was excited about the arrangements made and the level of participation by the citizens, saying the exercise worth it. He urged the people to go out in their numbers and register to guarantee their legitimate right to vote, with strict adherence to all the COVID-19 protocols already in place. He also urged applicants and all stakeholders to cooperate with the EC officials to make the exercise successful. He equally urged the officials to continually prioritize the health protocols of the people at the centres.
The Municipal Chief Executive was optimistic that almost all eligible voters would be registered, giving the success recorded so far.
