MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY TAKES STEPS TO ADDRESS CONCERNS OF THE PEOPLE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Wenchi-Accra Buses

The Municipal Assembly has taken steps, as part of its stakeholder engagements to address the concerns of the people on public transport, as a follow up to complains received from the public about poor services being rendered  by the Transport Unions, particularly, Wenchi – Accra transport operations. Concerns were also raised about the rude attitude and poor human relations of some of the drivers towards passengers. The public also raised concern on old buses being used by the transport operators causing intermittent break down in the course of their journey, posing risks to travelers.

In a joint meeting between Management of the Assembly  and the Transport Unions, GPRTU promised to begin the use of newly registered 2018 buses and also to introduce Premium Services by the end of February with 35-Seater Buse strictly on One Man One seat. The GPRTU, however, complained about the huge luggage of passengers. They called on travelers to cooperate with them to execute their duties effectively and render the best services they have always been yearning for.

The Municipal Chief Executive Dr. Prince Kwakye Afriyie tasked the Transport Union plying all routes within the Municipality and beyond to institute measures and offer the best services, as a matter of urgency to satisfy the interest of travelers and protect lives in their operations. He further urged them to adhere to all the necessary safety precautions to reduce carnage on our roads.
