The Public Health Emergency Management Committee of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly has resolved to intensify public sensitisation campaign on the Coronavirus-19 in the Municipality.
In its meeting on Tuesday 3rd August, the Committee was alarmed at the rate of covid cases recorded in only July 2021.
Briefing the Committee on covid cases in the Municipality, the Municipal Director for Health Services Robert Kwaku Bio stated that in a matter of days, 7 deaths were recorded from 130 positive cases of 650 total samples. Same period 31st July, 2020, 109 positive cases with 1 death were recorded.
The Municipal Coordinating Director Douglas N.K. Annoful who chaired the meeting expressed his commitment and readiness to actualise plans to curb the spread of the disease in the Municipality. He called on all stakeholders to join hands for the fight against the menace. Stakeholders unanimously agreed to embark on joint public education campaigns on the 2nd and 3rd waves of the disease and enforcement of the protocols.

The Committee has adopted and outlined the following activity strategies for the campaign; the use of ISD/Information Van,NCCE, Community Information Centres, Radio programmes, Community engagements, One on One Street engagements, Community visits, meeting with Opinion/Community Leaders, visit to Mosques/Churches, amongst others.
The Information Services Department was charged to lead the implementation plan of the campaign.
