The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) in collaboration with the Wenchi Municipal Assembly has held a training workshop for concerned Departments and Units of the Assembly on the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS) to perform procurement activities without visiting the primary source of clients and service providers or suppliers.
The objectives of the Project was to enhance procurement system, ensure transparency, reduce malpractice and corruption, enhance tax compliance, reduce cost on the part of Administrative Officers and Suppliers, assemble all suppliers and service providers onto one central pool. The System is easily accessible, user friendly, easy-to-use.
The Municipal Coordinating Director Douglas N.K Annoful urged concerned Organisations to get onboard and make use of the System to put an end to the manual process and related difficulties.
The training programme was led by a Principal Operation Officer Tanko Aminu and a Project Management Officer Andy Abrokwah as the Resource Persons from the Public Procurement Authority.
The System was developed by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) through the Ministry of Communications under its e-Transform Project and launched on 30th April, 2019 by the Vice President of the Republic Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia. The Project was being rolled out in phases on pilot with five (5) Organisations successfully migrated onto the System and would further on-board all Public Entities in monthly Roll-Out. Once the Organisation is on-boarded to the GHANEPS, all procurement activities such as Restrictive Tendering, Price Quotation, National Competitive Tendering, Single Sourcing, etc. must be conducted via the System.
