A Capacity Building Workshop has been held for Members of the Spatial and Physical Planning Committee.The training workshop, organised by the Land Use Spatial & Physical Planning Authority, was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of the Spatial and Physical Planning Committee members which include Heads and Staff of concerned Departments and Units.
The capacity enhancement would enable Committee Members, particularly the Technical Officers responsible for the day to day administration of Works and Physical Planning to comply and commensurate with best standard practice in conformity with the country’s law on Spatial and Physical Planning development.
The Regional Director for Land Use, Spatial and Physical Planning Authority (LUSPA) Frank Martey Korley who led a 5 – Member Team took the participants through areas such as the formation of Spatial Planning Committee, Settlement Plan, Street Naming, Fees/Charges, Public Participation, Enforcement and Unauthorised Development, Permitting Process, amongst others. The 5-Member Team from LUSPA include an Assistant Monitoring & Evaluation Officer Diesuo John Chrysantus, Assistant Research Officer Mamdud Sidik, Assistant Plan Preparation Officer Pious Agbetsitsie and a Technical Officer Francis Amoateng.
Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies shall revoke or impose additional conditions to a Building Permit where a developer does not comply with the conditions of the Permit and the payment of penalty must apply in accordance with Act 925 (Section 115) and Act 936 (Section 94).
The Municipal Spatial and Physical Planning Officer Ms. Honorata Nsomah Akanzige said the training programme would help sharpen the technical skills and expertise of Administrative Officers and Staff in the administration of development planning actions.
