TRADITIONAL COUNCIL & MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ORGANISE CLEAN UP EXERCISE

The Wenchi Traditional Council led by the President and Paramount Chief (Omanhene) of the Wench Traditional Area His Royal Highness Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoanpong Tabrako III in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive Hon Alexander Obour Damoah has organized a massive Clean up Exercise in the Municipality.
The Exercise, which received high patronage, was participated by the Member of Parliament for Wenchi Alhaji Seidu Haruna Groups and Associations, Religious Bodies, Traditional Authorities, Educational Institutions, Keep Fit Clubs, Individuals, Vehicle and Tricycle operators, etc. together with the general public.
The Exercise, led by the Paramount Chief and the Municipal Chief Executive, saw the general public pour onto the principal streets clearing weeds and bushes, dredging chocked gutters, channels and drains, extirpated signages and billboards that choked the Roundabout and blocked vantage points at the heart of town obstructing open view putting vehicles and road users in danger.
Other Public Places such as Lorry Parks and Stations, Market Places, Institutional premises, Shops, Stores. As part of activities and modalities for the Clean up Exercise, Shops/Stores, Food Vendors and all Businesses were closed during the Exercise from 6:00am to 10:00am on Saturday 3rd February, 2024 to enable the full participation and involvement of all and sundry with ease. During the exercise, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) provided free Medical Health Screening services with free distribution of Condoms to the general public. The Information Services Department (ISD) carried out public sensitization campaign on the exercise prior and during the exercise. The Ambulance Service also offered services with readily available Team of staff for any health emergency response. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) flashed and cleared chocked gutters and drains with the Fire Tender.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at the Wenchi Traditional Council after the Exercise, the Paramount Chief Omanhene His Royal Highness Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoanpong Tabrako III expressed his heartfelt appreciation and profound gratitude to the good people of Wenchi its environs. He reiterated his commitment to restore the seeming lost glory and make Wenchi work again. He disclosed that the Traditional Council with the Municipal Assembly would roll out measures to organize monthly Clean Up Exercise as part of efforts to ensure and promote good health and proper sanitation. He solicited the cooperation and continuous support of the people as he leads the Traditional Council to prepare to roll out some policy initiatives to develop Wenchi. He also hinted on the introduction of some regulations to regulate the organisation of funerals and other social activities.
In an Address delivered on his behalf by the PM Hon James Kwasi Oduro Asare, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon Alexander Obour Damoah called for full participation of citizens in the Assembly’s policy formulation and implementation as it collaborates the Traditional Council to enhance effective Local Governance and rapid development of Wenchi.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Hon Alhaji Seidu Haruna pledged to support the Paramount Chief and Council of Chiefs to bring development to the area.
